Preventing Water Damage on Your Cleveland Property

1/24/2020 (Permalink)

The best protection against catastrophic water damage is shutting off the main valve that controls all the water for your Garfield Heights home. Everyone in your Lyndhurst home should know where the main water shutoff valve is located so they can stop the water in an emergency. Before you leave your home, you will want to shut off the main water line to prevent any chance of water damage while you’re away. Many water meter setups have two valves, one on the street side of the meter and one on the house side.

If you live in a colder climate, you will typically find the main shutoff in the basement near the front of the home. In warmer climates, it may be outside your Mayfield Heights home attached to an exterior wall or in an underground box with a removable lid.

If you don't remember to shut off your water and come home to a mess, remember SERVPRO of Beachwood and Cleveland Northeast is here 24/7 to help! Call us anytime at 216-464-4498.
